APPLICATIONS
CURRENT CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

Families will be considered eligible for a scholarship if they meet the following criteria:

  • Pupils are actively enrolled in Solid Foundations Primary School (Grade RRR-7) when the application is made.
  • The cause of a payment deficit is through matters not of the family’s own creation or doing e.g. a parent’s salary was not paid, loss of employment, death in the family.


PROCESS OF APPLICATION
Families wishing to apply for a scholarship may only apply online. 
Applicants must upload irrefutable evidence of unforeseen/uncontrollable financial circumstances. This evidence will be considered by the directors of The Emmy Foundation who will unanimously decide on the merits of the case.
All applications will be treated with confidentiality in accordance with the POPI Act (see Privacy and Data Management Policies).


LIMITATIONS
  • Scholarships can only be awarded based on the availability of funds in The Emmy Foundation bank account.
  • School fees scholarships can only be claimed by a family once, for the financial equivalent of one month’s school fees, in the duration of the school year.
  • School fees scholarships can only be claimed a maximum of 3 times in the duration of the child’s primary schooling (Grade RRR-7).
  • The final awarding of the scholarship will be at the sole discretion of the directors of The Emmy Foundation. All directors must sign off on any scholarship before they can be awarded.
  • The scholarship can be withheld on the basis of poor academic performance or behaviour of the pupil concerned.
  • The limitations mentioned above may be altered by the directors of the organisation when and if they see fit.
PAY-IT-FORWARD SYSTEM

Beneficiaries of the scholarship agree to donate the equivalent amount of at least half of their scholarship to The Emmy Foundation as soon as they are able to do so. We understand that this cannot be demanded from scholarship beneficiaries, or contractually enforced, but is based on a goodwill “pay-it-forward” system. Recipients of the scholarship will be reminded about this “pay-it-forward” system from time-to-time, but no debt collection can or will be enforced.
